How to Let Go of Negative Thoughts and Unlock Your Business Potential

Mired in negative thoughts? They can hold you back from achieving all you’re capable of. Some negative thinking is a habit, some are created by lifelong limiting beliefs and some is just plain old procrastination.

When you learn the cause for your negative thoughts you can release them and unlock your business potential. Here are a few ideas to help you get started.

Start by catching yourself whenever you have a negative thought. It’ll probably contain the words,

* “I can’t”
* “I’m not good at”
* “I’m afraid”
* “I never have”

You get the picture, right? It’ll be negative. When you’re first starting on this road to letting go of your negative thoughts, don’t judge yourself.

Simply recognize when you have negative thoughts and what they are. You may even want to write them down. Keeping a journal of your negative thoughts for a couple of days will help you analyze where they’re coming from.

Once you are beginning to recognize your negative thoughts, you can start changing them. Ask yourself where the negative thought came from and if it’s true.

Most of the time our negative thoughts are just a habit, or they’re based on a limiting belief that really has no validity. For example, “I can’t go to college, no one in my family ever has.” Is it true? No, of course, you can go to college; your family has nothing to do with your ability, goals, and decisions.

So up until this point, you’re recognizing or becoming more conscious of negative thoughts when they appear, and you’re starting to question their validity. Next, it’s time to change those “I cant’s” into “I cans.”

You have a negative thought pop into your head when you’re contemplating something. You recognize it, you question if it’s true and now you begin to turn it into a positive thought. Every time you think, I can’t, stop yourself and create an affirmation that tells you, you can.

“There’s no way I can reach my sales goal of $100,000.” Is this true? No, where there is a will there is a way. You can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

Your affirmation may be, “With some creativity and careful planning, I can reach my sales goal of $100,000.” Now you can sit down and make it happen.

Fear, doubt, insecurities and negative thinking are something most people battle with from time to time.

The difference between successful people and everyone else is that successful people don’t listen to that negative talk. They push it aside, mold it into something they can use and persevere to achieve their goals and dreams.

The great news is that once you begin making a habit of turning negative thoughts into positive ones, the negative thoughts will diminish. You’ll have them less often and they’ll be replaced by a can-do attitude. You’ll develop a habit of positive thinking and then your full business potential can be achieved.

Using a Tax Preparer for Your Business Return? Here are Some Tips?

Choose Your Tax Preparer Wisely

If someone helps you do your taxes, you’re not alone. The IRS asks you to choose your tax return preparer wisely – for good reason. You are responsible for the information on your income tax return. That’s true no matter who prepares your return.

Here are ten tips to keep in mind when choosing a tax preparer:

1.Check the Preparer’s Qualifications. Use the IRS Directory of Federal Tax Return Preparers with Credentials and Select Qualifications on IRS.gov. This tool can help you find a tax return preparer with the qualifications that you prefer.

The Directory is a searchable and sortable listing of certain preparers registered with the IRS. It includes the name, city, state and zip code of:

  • Attorneys.
  • CPAs.
  • Enrolled Agents.
  • Enrolled Retirement Plan Agents.
  • Enrolled Actuaries.
  • Annual Filing Season Program participants.

Attorneys, CPAs, and enrolled agents can represent any client before the IRS in any situation. However, new rules apply to the rights of non-credentialed tax preparers to represent their clients before the IRS.

Non-credentialed preparers without an Annual Filing Season Program – Record of Completion – may only prepare tax returns. The new rules do not allow them to represent clients before the IRS on any returns prepared and filed after December 31, 2015.

Annual Filing Season Program participants can represent clients in limited situations. For more, visit IRS.gov and see the Understanding Tax Return Preparer Credentials and Qualifications page.

2.Check the Preparer’s History. Ask the Better Business Bureau about the preparer. Check for disciplinary actions and the license status for credentialed preparers.

For CPAs, check with the State Board of Accountancy. For attorneys, check with the State Bar Association. For Enrolled Agents, go to IRS.gov and search for “verify enrolled agent status” or check the Directory.

3.Ask about Service Fees. Avoid preparers who base fees on a percentage of their client’s refund. Also, avoid those who boast bigger refunds than their competition. Make sure that your refund goes directly to you – not into your preparer’s bank account.

4.Ask to E-file Your Return. Make sure your preparer offers IRS e-file. Paid preparers who do taxes for more than 10 clients generally must file electronically. The IRS has safely processed more than 1.5 billion e-filed tax returns.

5.Make Sure the Preparer is Available. You may want to contact your preparer after this year’s April 18 due date. Avoid fly-by-night preparers.

6.Provide Records and Receipts. Good preparers will ask to see your records and receipts. They’ll ask questions to figure your total income, tax deductions, credits, etc. Do not use a preparer who will e-file your return using your last pay stub instead of your Form W-2. This is against IRS e-file rules.

7.Never Sign a Blank Return. Don’t use a tax preparer that asks you to sign a blank tax form.

8.Review Your Return Before Signing. Before you sign your tax return, review it and ask questions if something is not clear. Make sure you’re comfortable with the accuracy of the return before you sign it.

9. Ensure the Preparer Signs and Includes Their PTIN. All paid tax preparers must have a Preparer Tax Identification Number, or PTIN. By law, paid preparers must sign returns and include their PTIN. Be sure you get a copy of your return.

10.Report Abusive Tax Preparers to the IRS. Most tax return preparers are honest and provide great service to their clients; however, some preparers are dishonest. Report abusive tax preparers and suspected tax fraud to the IRS. Use Form 14157, Complaint: Tax Return Preparer.

If you suspect a return preparer filed or changed the return without your consent, you should also file Form 14157-A, Return Preparer Fraud or Misconduct Affidavit. You can get these forms on IRS.gov at any time.

Information marketing has taken the internet by storm. As more and more people begin utilizing digital information, and reading and learning online, more opportunities open up for information marketers. If you have specialty information or have a passion for a topic, information marketing may be the perfect business model for you.

An online infopreneur is someone who makes a living selling information. It can be a very profitable business model.

An example is someone who is an expert when it comes to bird training. They have a passion for or a strong interest in training birds. They might create training manuals, videos and courses on how to train your pet bird.

The information could range from beginner to advanced tricks like how to train your parrot to play dead. Sounds crazy, right? I mean, who needs to train their parrot to do that? Believe it or not, there’s a market for it.

An online infopreneur’s first job is to determine what their passions are and if there’s a market for it. You might begin by making a list of the topics you’re knowledgeable in or passionate about. Then you begin your research. Using keyword research tools and investigating online, you’d look to see if people are searching for that topic.

Continuing with the parrot training topic, perhaps that infopreneur began with a passion for birds.

They found during their research that many people were struggling with their exotic birds. They were biting and screaming and being generally unruly. This infopreneur then saw that there weren’t a lot of other businesses providing information on the topic.

In short, there was a good demand for the information but not much supply. This is the perfect opportunity to create an information marketing business.

So your first step is to find your interests and passions.

Your second step is to research them for profitable niches. A niche is a specialty topic. It can also be a demographic like teen bird trainers or bird training in the desert southwest. Or it can be a skill level – beginner bird training, for example. If you are not familiar with how to determine niches, one free way is to check the Facebook Ads Manager which has tools that allow you to narrow down and determine your niche size.  Search for “Audience” and take it from there.

Once you’ve chosen a niche, it’s time to create your website and information products. Your website will be dedicated to helping your audience learn what they need to know or want to know about your topic. You might post a free article or video content. You may offer free reports and digital downloads.

Always collect an email address if you are serious about your business

At the start of this article on collecting email addresses, let me emphasize that the highest standard of ethics should be used to collect addresses. First and foremost, DO NOT USE anyone’s email address unless they have specifically given their permission for you to do so.

That being said, the power of collecting an email address is amazing. Here is a brief overview of why it is amazing with a few notes added.

If you are using “targeted” traffic-traffic for your niche- from a vendor, a good floor for sign-up conversions to set is around 30% of the number of clicks for email addresses. If you are getting less than 30%, you may want to look for a different vendor as the traffic may not be very good quality.

Also, keep in mind that often visitors to your site weren’t intending to buy any product but were just after more information on your subject.

Because studies show it often takes 7 communications before a customer will buy a product,  you need some way to keep in touch and that would be their email address.

For first-time visitors and people that are not familiar with you, it’s very rare to get a ‘yes’ on the first visit if you are selling a product. A standard of  1%-3% of visitors who purchase on their first visit is very good.

We need to offer the customer an awesome product that they simply can’t say no to for them to give us their email. Often people have no intention of handing out their email address but a carefully planned report or mini-course that is instantly delivered to them is often incentive enough for them to build that bridge.

Depending upon your business, the gift or “bribe” should be appealing. When I was selling art online, I offered a signed in the plate print of several artists or an ebook on collecting art for giving me their email address. Make your offer relevant to your audience.

To keep contact with your potential customers, you need a database and an autoresponder. Here is how it works…

The database stores names and email addresses and can send out pre-programmed emails (autoresponders) that you set up to potential customers. These emails can be customised and sent instantly, 1 day, 5 days and anywhere up to 10 years- a little extreme- after the initial email was collected.

As you see, this is a very powerful and effective way to keep in contact with your potential customers.

Third party autoresponders that sit on a separate server are the most effective and you can generate your own signup form to place on your website to collect the email addresses which are then sent to and stored in the database ready for your automated email sequence.

With an autoresponder, you can also send an email to your database at any time by “broadcasting” a message. Using one message, you can set the broadcast to reach as many, or as few, potential customers as you wish.

In addition to the pre-programmed correspondence, you should have a blogging platform to provide value-added content to your audience. You will quickly find that if you do nothing but pitch, pitch, pitch your product, your emails will end up in the trash folder unopened and your unsubscribe rate will soar.

Make your potential customers look forward to your emails, not see them as annoying.

Do this and your list will flourish.

Let’s look at an example of the power of an email database. Let’s say you attract 100 visitors each day (easily possible) and have a signup rate of 30%, so that’s 30 email addresses a day, and after a year, you have 10,950.

If you mail out a promotion for a course you have created that costs $97 and just 3% of your list signs up (quite reasonable), that’s an income of $31 864.50 just from one mailout. Now you can change the product cost and the percentage for your own use, but you get the idea, right?

There should be no doubt about the value of an email address for internet marketing at this time. And given the fact that customers generally need to be exposed to a product some 7 times on average before they buy, the value as a vehicle is indisputable.

Remember above all to only use an email address if you have been given permission and to provide value in your mailings to establish your continuing relationship. If you do this, success is yours!

A word of advice: have a plan before you embark upon this journey. What I mean by this is that you can become easily distracted by all of the new information. First, plan out your autoresponders using something like the Pareto rule, i.e., 20% selling; 80% content.  Don’t do this on the fly. Have it in place.

When you are first starting out and have not developed your personal client list, it is much more expedient to use someone else’s mailing list. Of course, this requires you to “rent” their list to advertise your product.

In general, emails are priced according to the quantity you purchase, so the more you get the less they cost. You know what? If you are not blogging for your business, any business, then you should be. While many people simply dismiss blogging because of its description as a web diary they are missing a lot of traffic and revenue generating opportunities every day. Are you one of those missing out?

In truth blogs are much more than a simple web diary. They are actually a content management system and/or an easy website template. I have come up with 7 reasons why every business should definitely have a blog and if you like, an RSS feed.

1. Publishing a regularly updated blog helps you keep in touch with your existing audience and/or customer base. You can publish updates, news, or thoughts in your blog as well as answer questions.

2. A blog can help you attract new customers. Your blog entries (posts or articles) will become fodder for the search engines and will attract new visitors. If your blog answers the visitors question or attracts their interest you have just found another qualified lead.

3. Blogs and RSS feeds often rank higher in search engines than traditional websites. Search engines love blogs and RSS feeds. If you design your blog properly then every time you update it the search engines are notified.

Even if you don’t regularly ping most search engines will revisit blogs more frequently. Plus the very organization of a blog lends itself to spidering and good search engine ranking.

4. Blogs can help you establish or build your reputation in a particular field. As your blog grows you will demonstrate your knowledge in your chosen niche.

5. Blogs and RSS feeds are good revenue streams. You can add pay-per-click ads, affiliate ads, or sell ad space on your blogs. In fact, many PPC companies also provide the ability to add PPC to your RSS feeds.

6. Blogs are great ways to generate leads. Even if you don’t want to put any advertising on your blog you can use it to promote or capture leads for your own programs. These are great leads as the fact that they came from your blog means they are already interested in your topic and predisposed to your individual message.

7. Creating your own blog is the easiest way to establish a presence on the Internet and creating an RSS feed is even easier. In fact, it is also the cheapest way to get started on the Internet as there are a number of free blogging sites out there.
