Building a Business – So Much To Do, So Little Time

Considering an adventure into the realm of online marketing to bring in a few extra dollars, or even better, to build a successful venture that will allow you to retire from the 9 to 5 rat race? Well with any venture, planning is necessary, especially a business venture.

In one of my former lives as an auditor, I found that the best approach to understanding a business process was to lay out a diagram. a flowchart. This kind of visual both aided understanding of the flow of the business and would later serve as a reference in presentations. Taking the time to properly lay out a schematic saved countless hours of retracing steps.

A business process is a collection of activities that create a product or service within an organization. These activities are also related as they are the steps or activities that support the same end goal the same result.

The focus of this article is to show how information systems can assist in business processes and then I will introduce you to a ready-made, or “turnkey” process that will enable you to hit the ground running!

If you are the type that just can’t wait, run on ahead and check out the “turnkey” system that we have developed for you:

If you are still reading…

A typical business, even a small one, will usually have many different processes some are related directly to creating the product or service and some support the organization.

In the example above, within the accounting functional area, a business may have a process for accounts payable accounts receivable a general ledger. In the marketing area managing customer service and so on.

It doesn’t take too much imagination to see that information systems can be a very important part in all of the processes listed here by making a business more efficient and helping a business create a better product.

As you might imagine some business processes could be very complex and trying to explain the process to a new member might be very difficult if you just gave them a list of the different activities.

One way we make processes easier to understand is by creating a visual map of the process we call that either a process model or a process flowchart.

This slide shows a flowchart of an online software purchase.

It’s not too difficult to see how the process works.

It still uses the same symbols that we saw in the other flowchart the difference is a lane for each actor or role within the process.

Not only do we see the process activities themselves but we see who is responsible for or who performs each activity.

Many software applications give you the ability to create flow charts.

For example, Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint in the insert shapes area you’ll have the flowchart symbols you can use to create a basic flow chart.

Although it’s not included with your standard Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio is a great tool for creating flow charts and charting business processes and it even has some templates that you can start with and then modify as you need.

There’s another set of symbols you might consider when mapping or creating a flowchart of a business process. These symbols are called business process modeling notation symbols.

You can find these symbols in Visio but you will not be able to find them and Microsoft Word or Excel. However, if you’re charting a very complex process this method actually can be very useful.

So why do we create flow charts and use business process modeling? I’ve already mentioned one reason.

It helps simplify very complex processes.

It makes them easier to grasp in a visual format.

Another important reason to create a flow chart is to help identify areas that can be improved in the process. The flowchart might reveal extra steps or bottlenecks that can be eliminated.

When redesigning or improving a process creating a flowchart of the current and the proposed process is a great way to compare the two and show how the revised process can save time money or improve efficiency in some way.

And this is what the folk at Empower Network have done in revamping the program. David Wood and Company have taken the complexities of online marketing and developed for you and me a process that not only is manageable from the get-go but also can get you setup and running in a few hours.

The product is provided, the tools and know-how are provided, and more importantly, a culture of caring is nurtured to ensure your success.

So you can go it alone, build your system, build your process, and spend that most valuable of all commodities, time.

You can decide to step into a system that has designed the process, documented the system flows, and worked to put you years ahead of building an online business from the ground up:

Think Big! Grow Rich! Can it Really Happen?

“Think & Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill isn’t new and yet it is still one of the most often referred to books when we are talking about becoming rich.

That’s because it’s been well documented that many successful people have found their blueprint to success within Hill’s book.

Hill has packed his book with many quotes, which are excellent food for thought. This is one of the many that rings true when you are looking to be successful at getting rich.

“Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.”     pablo (37)

This is an excellent quote, because it hits at the nerve of what it takes to become rich.

If you are only hoping and wishing that you’ll get rich and stop your day-to-day struggles and begin to enjoy the life you want, then you will be very disappointed. You need to take action and take steps to  change your thinking!

A year from now or ten years from now your life is likely to look much like it does today. Why has nothing changed? Because you simply did not have the desire to make it change.

If this is you and you are not willing to fuel the flames of desire, then just continue to play the Lottery. Even this requires you to take action. You gotta play to win!

                                                                                           burning flame

 Desire burns in you constantly.

It never goes out.

It never disappears.

There are all kinds of desires and the desire to be rich is certainly the focus for many.

When a person has the desire to grow rich it is on their mind all the time.

Here at Team Legacy, we treat ourselves to a video from the Empower Network’s Inner Circle each morning to regenerate that desire and fan the flames daily. These audios inspire the motivation and consciousness to focus on goals.

People who  have the desire to grow rich are constantly looking for what they can do to create an environment where they can make money.

The person with desire will be analyzing everything they do and see thinking about whether it’s a way to reach their goal of becoming rich.

Interestingly enough when you have the desire the message become planted into your subconscious mind and that becomes your focus. It becomes your drive and it becomes your reality. Suddenly you find that you have increased your earnings.

But have you created wealth?

Or are you still living from month to month. One thing is for certain – you must be your own boss and run your own business in order to create wealth, because as long as you are working for someone else they control your wealth.

Look for an opportunity, try it out for size to see if it is for you and take action! Sign up for the Empower Trial and make your decision after doing the “fast start” training!

So once you have made the big step to dream big and start your own business adventure you are truly on your way to creating wealth.

You now are completely in control of what your earnings look like. You are the driver behind the road to wealth. No more lottery!  😆

Wealth or Money? What is It You Really Want?

As humans, we want wealth, not money! Strange statement but true because we always think of one as the other.

Making money and having wealth are two very different things, however.

If your goal is to create wealth for yourself, this may help you to understand what wealth looks like.

Wealth is ancient whereas money is actually a rather new invention mostly born out of necessity.

Wealth is the things you want – clothes, food, houses, travel to different places, cars, gadgets, and so on it goes.

Many people don’t realize that you can have wealth and not have money.

If you had a piece of technology or a magic Genie that could create your every whim on demand, you could create a car, a yacht or whatever your desire was without ever having money. A simple wish would do.

pablo (28)                                                                                                                                                         And if you lived in the farthest corner of the planet in isolation where there was nothing to purchase, it wouldn’t make any difference the amount of money you have.

Wealth is about what you have or want, not about money. You can now see that money is not wealth.

Money is actually a side effect of a world that has become very specialized.

For example, in our specialized world, you might need paper but you don’t have the tools to make it.

You might need a place to live but you have to acquire that from someone else unless you have the material, time and skill to build your own.

If you are hungry, you must buy your food from someone else unless you raise or grow your own. Therefore, you need a way to be able to obtain those goods and services from the other person.

In the past, the barter system was used. But then life was much simpler.

You might have grown potatoes and your neighbor might have had wood. You would trade potatoes for wood.

You would then trade potatoes for carpenter skills and that’s how wealth was built back by our ancestors.

pablo (33)However, problems arose when you had potatoes (or whatever your commodity was) and the other person didn’t want what you wanted or need.

That left you having to trade your commodity for something the other person wanted and if successful, then you could trade with them

We’ve simplified things in the modern world. We now use money, which is the medium of exchange.

This allows trade to work effectively and for people to acquire wealth faster, because you essentially have streamlined the process.

So you see money is only a tool to get wealth, which can be built many ways.

So why do we all focus on money then? That’s because in our modern world money is a recognized way to get to wealth – they have become interchangeable.

It gets even more complicated because when we discuss ‘making money’ it becomes more difficult for most of us to understand how to make money.

You could get plans to make a car, build a house, a yacht, a plane, etc., it is difficult to get a good solid plan to make money!

You can work for someone else and do well and there are many, many who do. But… it is difficult to find someone who is truly happy in servitude.

In addition to the material aspects of wealth, most of us want a higher purpose, the freedom to create a lifestyle.

To live free!

Only a lifestyle that allows us to make our own decisions and yes, our own mistakes as we live the life we wish to live will make us happy!

We wish to work for ourselves! We want to be empowered! And we will WORK for it!

World Traveler or American Expatriot: 5 Factors On Choosing Where to Live

Dreaming of living abroad but not sure where to go? The possibilities are nearly endless, now that the Internet is available in almost any location you can imagine. The ability to work from your computer makes living outside your home country a real possibility for anyone. All it takes is a little advanced planning.

Settling Down or Traveling – The Choice is Yours!

It is possible to earn a living while traveling, just ask blogger Chris Buillebeau: He’s made it his mission to see every country in the world, and at last count, he’s nearly there. He works from the road, creating guides to help other would-be world travelers make the most out of their journeys.

But that’s not what most people think of when they say “location independent.” Instead, they mean living somewhere else permanently – most often in another country. The question is, where?

You need to take into account several factors when making your choice, including:

 * Infrastructure. You’ll need adequate (and readily available) health and dental care, not to mention reliable Internet access.

* Cost of living. Make sure your income can support you in the country you choose. Not only that, but be aware that in many countries, the cost of living may be quite low, but only because the locals live in terrible poverty.

* Emigration laws. How easy is it to earn permanent resident status? Some countries welcome immigrants and are well equipped to handle them. Others, such as Switzerland, Austria, and other European countries are notoriously difficult to gain entry to.

* Safety. Are Westerners welcomed? Will your religious beliefs be tolerated? Is the area in general stable, or is it prone to outbreaks of violence?

* Distance from home. Depending on your situation (elderly relatives, etc) you might want to look toward Central America rather than Asia, for example, just for easier travel.

The US State Department maintains a database of all countries which includes information about safety, infrastructure, travel requirements, residency applications and more. You can find the listing of countries at

Another source of information about your proposed country is the consulate or embassy there. The US maintains a presence in most friendly countries, and it’s recommended that before traveling or moving to a foreign nation you inform the embassy about your plans. You can find a complete listing of embassies, consulates, and their websites at

Something else to consider: Is there a community of ex-pats already there? While it can be thrilling to dream of living and working in a foreign country, the reality can be quite different.

Having other Americans around to hang out with (and learn from) can make moving abroad much easier on your entire family.  See my article in for researching the ex-pat issue.

Whether you choose to put down roots in a foreign country or just wander from place to place enjoying the scenery, it’s important to do your homework. Be sure your adopted country is someplace you’ll be comfortable visiting or living, and that your own government has good relations with that country. Planning ahead will make your adventure much more satisfying.

If you don’t blog-regardless of what business you have or start-, you should. It is one of the greatest ways to share information with your clients and educate them on your products. We all have something to say and what a great avenue to do it. If the idea of blogging seems too complicated or time consuming, you need to check out the Empower Network blogging platform and the 21-day blogging challenge.

This is what I use and believe me, it is simple!!

6 Internet Jobs You Can Do Anywhere

While retirees and the independently wealthy have been leaving the country for more attractive locations for decades (see post here), ‎it’s only recently that the option has been available for those of us who still have to work.

The reason for that? The Internet, of course.

High-speed connections and the ability to both send and receive money online means it’s easier than ever before to work remotely.

In fact, millions of Americans work from home every day, so it stands to reason that you could work from another country as well.

While you could get a more traditional “job” and work from the road, it’s significantly easier if you don’t have a boss to worry about.

Rather than looking for an online job, then, you’re probably better off to build a business. Several opportunities are out there.

Depending on your income needs, this might mean working just a few hours per week, or it might mean a bigger commitment.

Good thing these popular online businesses offer incredible flexibility in addition to great income potential:

When reviewing any opportunity, look for a good solid offer and most importantly, look for one that is believable. Remember that there is no such thing as “get rich quick”. Any legitimate business will tell you up front that success can only be achieved with dedication and hard work.

• Virtual assistant – VAs work in a lot of different areas and specialties. They build websites, edit audio and video files, write content, create graphics, keep appointment calendars, and just about anything else that can be done on a computer.

Pay ranges from $10 to $75 per hour and up.

There is some stiff competition from other countries in this market however, most notable the Phillipines, where VAs can be contracted for $2 to $5 per hour.(check this site to see the competition).

Once you understand the competition, you can prepare your resume to offer services more along the format of Elance.

• Affiliate marketer – Affiliate marketers make money by recommending products to others.

This is what I do.

When you makes a sale through a specially coded affiliate link, you earn a  commission. Income is based on the amount of effort you put into it, and can range from very little to multiple six figures.

While I have several sources of income from affiliate marketing, let me give you the two that I place at the top of the opportunities: Ipas2 and the Empower Network.

I have provided links to the site landing pages where you can independently assess the offers.

These are great opportunities that can be worked from anywhere in the world.

Watch the testimonials in the videos and Facebook pages as well. And be sure to watch both opportunities before making any decision.

Of course, I am available if you have any questions. 🙂

• Information product creator – If you have a great deal of knowledge about a particular topic (or just like to research) and love to write and/or create videos and audios, creating info products might be for you.

Product creators can earn hundreds of thousands of dollars each year, but it generally takes time to build up to that level.

A good place to start your research is in this discussion:

• Coach – Coaching is a hot business these days, and can easily be done remotely. Life coaches help their clients achieve more and have a happier life. Business coaches assist with business planning and development. Dating coaches help clients find lasting love.

Coaches can earn up to $500 per hour, but be aware that some certification may be required.

Because of the diversity of this subject matter, your best choice is to GTS (google that stuff) your subject matter to get off to a quick start.

• General transcription – If you love to type (and are fast and accurate) you might enjoy transcription. Turning audio files into text can pay up to $85 per hour. Check out this company and their FAQs for ideas: Rev

• Ghostwriting – Writing is an in-demand skill, and can certainly provide a good income no matter where you live.

The best magazine writers can earn $2000 or more per article, but most online writers make significantly less than that.

Here is a good place to start: 3 steps

Any of these businesses can be operated entirely online with nothing more than a laptop and maybe a headset.

Rarely will you be required to attend a face-to-face meeting, meaning your schedule will be totally flexible, and you can live anywhere you choose.

To your success!
